What Is the Difference in CBD Oil Strengths?

Enough is enough, and too much is too much. Everybody and every body is different. What is a good dosage for one, might not be a good dosage for another. Your body may have an excellent reaction to high-strength CBD oil, but a low-dosage CBD tincture may not even be noticeable. Conversely, a low-dosage CBD hemp oil may hit your sweet spot, but if you take too much you may not get the exact CBD oil effects for which you were looking. Let’s explore what CBD oil strengths mean.

Finding the Strength of Your CBD Hemp Oil

First things first, we need to know what we’re working with. Look on the label of your CBD tincture and find out how much CBD is actually inside. For peace of mind, find a company that uses third-party testing to ensure the accuracy of their batches. Though the FDA doesn’t currently regulate CBD products, in recent years they did test a few CBD products for content. 34 of the 38 products tested contained a discrepancy between what was found in the product and what was found on the label. Some contained no cannabinoids at all!1 If the label isn’t accurate, ensuring proper dosage becomes a fool’s errand. Learn about the importance of properly labeled CBD products.

After you have found how many mg of CBD are in a mL, you can figure out your dosage. A rule of thumb is that one drop (not the full dropper) contains approximately .05 mL of liquid volume.2 As with any supplement, if you haven’t tried it before, start small and work your way up to higher dosages to find out which dosage gives you the greatest CBD benefits.

Many companies will have intermediate strength, medium strength, and extra strength CBD oil for sale. The higher the strength, the more CBD mg/mL will be in one serving. If you’re new to the game, keeping a journal of your servings and CBD effects is a great way to log how you react to the hemp oil benefits of various dosages.

What is Full-Spectrum CBD Oil? CBD Isolate vs Full-Spectrum

Pure CBD oil contains just CBD isolate as its active ingredient, but some hemp oils contain more than just CBD. Full-spectrum CBD oils contain the full spectrum of cannabinoids of the hemp from which they were extracted as well as the flavonoids and terpenes. You may notice a different reaction to full-spectrum CBD oils compared to a CBD isolate oil. Research is being done into the specific effects of various individual cannabinoids.

It has long been hypothesized that the full-spectrum hemp extract produces a synergistic effect, the “entourage effect.”3 This means that the full spectrum can make the CBD effects greater than those from the same dosage of a pure CBD oil.

When trying to figure out the best dosage and tincture for your body and mind, it is important to factor in how much of the spectrum is included in your CBD hemp oil. A lower strength full-spectrum tincture may produce better CBD oil benefits for you compared to a pure CBD oil if you react well to the inclusion of other cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes.
